The foundational systems in this country of health care, work and environment are in fundamental crisis. Centering for Wellness, Inc. utilizes the core power of grassroots self-care and self-responsibility to promote out-of-the-box thinking and personal leadership, with a greater commitment to honor and caringly participate in one’s personal, professional and community relationships. We have to “run smarter” and no longer sacrifice our innate wellbeing. Instead, our innate wellbeing must newly emerge to partner with the system crises of our time, for integrated, new resolutions.
Inspiration
After a 20+ career in self-help and holistic healing, and having worked with thousands of individuals and groups on their journeys to personal healing and development, Ms. Baker Price realizes it is a critical time to broaden the reach and impact of this important work.
Our organization, established in late 2008, serves the greater Rochester, NY area, as well as the NYS region, with hopes to expand our trainings throughout the entire United States. Centering for Wellness, Inc. seeks to focus on:
- Training and educating individuals in community systems to use holistic health practices that support and strengthen their day-to-day functioning and health
- Improving and identifying the internal “spirit” of the organization as a way to realize organizational efficiency
The inspiration of our projects come from accepting that our present state of affairs, now more than ever, require the creation of programs that can satisfy functional, personal, and organizational challenges brought about by disempowerment. Individual and organizational performance is diminished by disempowered choice-making. Centering for Wellness programs are founded on the idea that the implementation of simple coping and self-help tools can extend to organizational directives by re-empowering the decision-making process.
Marjorie's Vision Statement
Sometimes you know in life if a dream's time has come. Twenty-two years ago I had that experience when I began my own integrated, holistic practice as a nurse. Today that time has come again, with everything, for me, wonderfully coming together to create Centering for Wellness, Inc.
It has been a long, exciting, miraculous, and challenging road. It began , beginning with a vision and an invitation I had when I first began my practice in 1987 to teach anyone who needed to take better care of themselves and recover what is now called complementary medicine practices. As the word “complementary” implies enhancing and supporting treatment for healing and wellness, so do simple, transformational tools that decades of mind-body research tell us establish physical, emotional, mental and spiritual balance create a critical mass that shifts us from “dis-ease” to “ease”.
I am my own best customer for the particular services Centering for Wellness, Inc. offers to the general public and to health care providers to train them for better self-care, and therefore by implication better improvement of the services that they bestow upon others. ability to deliver service. Upon acquisition, complementary medicine practices need to be integrated, and not merely learned in a vacuum. This represents a second major thrust of the value that Centering for Wellness will be defined by. ; as well as teach them how to integrate these practices into their own delivery of care. These complementary medicine practices will be highlighted by:
- Deep relaxation techniques: to help regulate autonomic processes
- Visualization and imagery tools: to help with concentration and stress levels
- Hypnotherapy – Combining relaxation and guided imagery to change physiological, emotional and mental stress responses, both in the past and the present, to responses that produce well-being
- Therapeutic journaling – Simple, targeted writing exercises that support “telling your own truth”, creatively expressing your thoughts and feelings, and gaining key insight for successful problem-solving and recovering mental and emotional health, with strongly researched implications for producing empowerment, transformation and healing
- Energy medicine – Increasingly popular hands-on and imagery healing which includes Reiki, therapeutic touch, and my own uniquely created approach, Compassionate Touch Therapy, to profoundly enhance relaxation and support mind-body enhanced balance and integrative healing responses.
As a psychiatric and community health nurse clinician who is a certified hypnotherapist, writer, and Reiki Master, I combine these designated complementary medicine practices with other areas of expertise including crisis intervention, insight-oriented counseling, grief and behavioral therapies, conflict resolution, health teaching, and addictions recovery therapies.
I made the decision last Fall to begin transforming the vision to the reality and value that I know Centering for Wellness is capable of providing. I asked myself at that pointlast fall when I made the decision to found Centering for Wellness, can we take fuller charge of our lives in this time of health crisis? Can we creatively and better support ourselves – body, mind and spirit – and extend our hand to support each other because, just as all the parts that make up our individual selves are indestructibly connected, so are we “sinking or swimming” together?
It has been said this is a time when we are called to act in new and creative ways. It is interesting to note that these and integrative holistic practices are old and fortunately, simple. They don't require any significant expense, they build on what we innately know and are able to do within ourselves, and they have no side effects. They improve self-esteem and our sense of being able to, in more aware, extended and enlightened ways, be present and able to respond in our lives. It's also interesting to note that the word “responsibility” when broken into the two words that form it and reversed, becomes “ability” and “respond”. We must become more able to respond to ourselves, our healing challenges, others, and the world we live in. We must be freer to both detach, be present and better create in our lives.
The unique educational services Centering for Wellness offers provide these life-changing, wellness and self-healing results.
Our Philosophy
Centering for Wellness’s essential vision seeks to serve a diverse representation of organizations by uncovering the universal meaning that catalyzes recognition and fuels willingness to more highly transform. This recovers and allows us, in all functional ways, to honor the sacredness of the whole.
The programs of Centering for Wellness, Inc. are self-generating. The outcomes are sustainable and will continue to produce expanding results. Each of these practices will work to achieve higher consciousness through placing attention on restoring the primary importance of self-care to facilitate transpersonal caring relationships and evolved, successful outcomes. As this occurs we are restored to care, equalize, be responsible, and respect others and the organizations they service.
